With their combined knowledge of the ski area, the mountain restaurants and the village, you will be in good hands when it comes to recommendations for a great meal or tips to avoid lift queues.
It may be that Chez Nous is not quite right for you, in which case Angus and Lizzie also organise tailor-made holidays in Zermatt.
Angus’ father first came to Zermatt as a ski-tourer in 1964 and fell in love with the area. In 1979 Angus joined his parents at the Monte Rosa Hotel and his own love affair with Zermatt began: he has skied here almost every year since, including as a Ski Club of Great Britain guide during his student days. Work life eventually took him to Eastern Europe where Angus set up his own business but he was lured back to Zermatt in 2008 where he met Lizzie and together they have made this their home.
Lizzie learned to ski in Wengen and Grindelwald in the shadow of the Eiger. Her introduction to Zermatt came later, in 2007, after she had called time on her career in London as a lawyer and legal head-hunter and was setting off to follow her love of food. After stints at Ballymaloe in Ireland and Chez Panisse in Berkeley, Lizzie arrived in Zermatt as a private chef for a top-end English chalet company. She likes to think she was part of the reason Angus came back to settle in Zermatt.
